In light of the recent moral threats to society, an organization that has been around for more than 20 years is taking action to combat the culture of death.
“The Susan B. Anthony List is dedicated to electing candidates and pursuing policies that will reduce and ultimately end abortion, electing pro-life leaders and holding politicians accountable to ensure that we can pass laws that save lives in Washington,” said Billy Valentine, the organization’s director of policy & programs.
Valentine, a Franciscan University of Steubenville alumnus, is heavily involved in the organization, working full-time on staff for the past two years on political, communications and policy work. He is currently working on the Life and Liberty Headquarters.
“The Life & Liberty Headquarters is co-sponsored by the Susan B. Anthony List and American Majority Action,” he said. “The goal is to educate voters across Ohio about President Barack Obama’s radical assault on religious liberty, unborn children and how his administration has waged a war against coal here in the Ohio River Valley.”
The Susan B. Anthony List is now making a presence here in Steubenville. The movement is extremely welcoming and is open to student involvement within the organization and the election.
The organization offered students jobs before the election to campaign locally by phone or in person.
“That way, students not only have the opportunity to make a difference, but to make money,” Valentine said.
Post-Election-Day, the organization offers year-round internships, which is where Valentine got his start with the Susan B. Anthony List.
“We work to elect pro-life leaders, educate voters, train pro-life activists, promote the pro-life message in traditional and new media, advocate for pro-life legislation and connect politics with policy,” said Valentine.
He said the organization’s website, sba-list.org, is extremely informative and has a variety of videos, fact checks, a blog and testimonials, as well as a voter’s guide that highlights and promotes those running for various types of office that have proven themselves to be pro-life. The Susan B. Anthony List also has a YouTube channel, Facebook page and a Twitter account to help keep the pro-life message alive and well.
If students are in any way interested in getting more involved in the organization, or getting some information, they can contact Billy Cody by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
