Rebekah Richards, Editor-in-Chief is a senior communications major with a minor in music. After spending a semester in Washington, D.C. with the Washington Journalism Center in Fall 2010, Rebekah discovered she liked her smaller hometown of Columbus, Ohio better than the big city. Rebekah spent this summer working as a communications intern for the Ohio Health Information Partnership where she enjoyed writing stories, press releases, helping manage the website, and shooting and editing video of doctors talking about their electronic health record system. She hopes to one day be a music critic and ride her bike from Washington state, to Washington D.C.
Elizabeth Wong, Assistant Editor, is a junior communications major with a minor in philosophy. This New Jersey native spent her Spring '11 semester at the Washington Journalism Center where she interned with The Washington Times, and surprised herself by actually liking the city of Washington, D.C. Elizabeth has been a devoted fan of G.K. Chesterton even before she arrived at Franciscan University, and is also deeply dedicated to pro-life ministries.
Joseph Houde, Business Manager, is a senior marketing and communications double major who loves to work with multimedia. He is originally from Maine, but surprisingly, he is not a lumberjack or a lobsterman. When he's not being a student or an intern, he enjoys frisbee, racquetball, camping and backpacking, and watching old seasons of 24. He is a huge movie buff, and just loves stories in general. In his spare time he maintains his movie review website, Seven Keys Ministries.
Rebecca Hubbel, Copy Editor, is a senior Management major with a History Minor. She started her writing career in high school, writing pro-life pieces for the diocese of New York, and later publishing her articles as a music critic in the city paper. She has worked for academic computing, orientation team, and events catering in the past. Currently, she is an Integrated Marketing Specialist, Corporate Blogger and Content Developer for Business Armory, LLC. Her deceased best friend, Meghan Green, is her inspiration for her personal online blog, Cons1derThis. She thanks the University, family and friends, and her faith for her professional and spiritual success as student.
Joseph Stallings, Photo Editor is a senior history and theology major from a small town on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia. He is the youngest of seven and has a deep love for his home and family. Joseph loves to spend time with others talking and enjoying life. He also has a number of hobbies including sports, reading, and music. Prior to coming to Franciscan University, Joseph worked for several years as a correspondent for a local newspaper. He has always enjoyed photography and is excited to once again be working in journalism.
After graduation Joseph hopes to have an adventure either at home or abroad and see where the road of life leads him.
Matthew VanWagenen, Sports Editor, is a sophomore from Milford, Pennsylvania. Majoring in communications and minoring in history at Franciscan University of Steubenville, Matthew is also a Cadet 3rd Class at Air Force ROTC Detachment 730, which is based at the University of Pittsburgh. Always open to new opportunities, Matt has sought year-round employment, working for the Golub Corporation as well as his local parish, St. Vincent DePaul's RC Church, during the summer and winter breaks from school. During the school year, he is a student marketing coordinator for Sodexo food service at their Franciscan University branch, in addition to his job with the Troubador. Matt has a love of all things outdoors, especially fishing, hiking, swimming, and playing sports. His Catholic faith plays an important role in his life, and he embraces the values taught by the Church. After a long week of work or classes, he loves to kick back and relax with the family and friends who have played a vital role in his life.
Nick Lannigan, Layout Editor, is a Management major and has been working on the Troub staff since Spring 2010, first as a writer, later web editor, and now layout editor! Nick is from Tampa, Florida and a huge Florida Gator's fan! When he isn't in class he works for athletics, and is a marketing intern for Business Armory. For breaks you can usually find him at any of Florida's beaches. Besides relaxing on the beach, Nick's Catholic faith is very important to him, his devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes is intense and hopes to go back to help serve in Lourdes, France.
Sylvia Pultorack, Layout Editor, is a junior Theology and Catechetics major and French minor who has been serving The Troubadour since the beginning of her career at Franciscan. Other than sitting in the Troub office making the newspaper look nice and writing articles when needed, she enjoys being a part of music ministry as a flutist and reading any Shakespearean tragedy when she has time. She embraces her studies in the theological and catechetical fields and hopes someday to enter any type of ministry where she can show others the path to Christ, but most of all give God glory through the gifts He has given her.
Cassandra Pyle, Web Editor, is a freshman legal studies major. She is the oldest of six kids and is from Richmond, Va. She is a member of the Little Flowers Household on campus and excited to be the web editor for The Troubador.
JP Richards, Distribution Manager, joins the team in his first year at Franciscan. He is from Columbus, Ohio and is currently undecided on a major but enjoys business and history. JP is enjoying Franciscan culture and getting to know other young men on campus through playing sports and ping pong.
