Baldwin’s
Brigade (staff/faculty) earned a spot in Friday’s AA championship
game by beating Boom Goes The Dynamite 46-33 in a defensive battle.
Curtis Allen came up big for the Brigade, scoring 20 points including 12 in the second half.
The Brigade took control of the game, going up 12-5 early on. Bill Walsh and Curtis Allen led the Brigade offensively with 6 points a piece in the first. It was a defensive battle as both teams struggled to get on the scoreboard. The Dynamite were led by Nathan Cain and Eric Larson with 3 points each. The first half ended with the Brigade up 20-10.
The Dynamite attempted to make a comeback as Larson put up 2 quick points. However, they were unable to ignite a spark as the Brigade set off on a scoring run. J.J. Sanford had two big three-pointers to keep the Dynamite at bay. Allen continued his hot shooting to help finalize the score at 46-33.
Mike Cundiff and Cain led the Dynamite with 10 and 9 points respectively, while Bill DiPiero helped out the Brigade with 7 of his own.
Allen said, “It was a good game. We fought hard and played some tough defense. We also made some clutch shots. They are a good team and played really well; I give them credit. But in the end our experience helped us and won the game for us.”
Baldwin’s Brigade will play in the championship game on Friday at 8 p.m.
