In the book, "Every Young Woman's Battle," the authors Shannon Ethridge and Steven Arterburn emphasize, the better the person you become, the better the person you'll attract. If you are a godly, goal-oriented individual, you are going to attract the same. But if your life amounts to nothing but finding someone to fill that vacuum in your soul, you are going to attract another desperate person. With this perspective, fitness is about more than just working out and slimming down or getting big. It is a whole-body journey, to be experienced in areas of life more extensive than the gym itself. Who you are after these four years of college, is who you will be for the rest of your life. What habits will you make? Which will you break?

Track preseason prep
MATT VAN WAGENEN
The Franciscan University Track Team is currently undergoing preseason workouts to gear up for their Spring 2012 season.
"The team members meet about six times a week to work out together," said Joey Schlueter, a sophomore on the men's team. "Although there are no official workouts as of yet, we are trying to get in shape early on for the season."
March for life
BY: STEVEN J. THOMAS AND ANDREW DECKER
January 23, the thirty-ninth anniversary of the legalization of abortion, was a cold, wet, and rainy day. Despite this, Franciscan University students were not deterred from enthusiastically participating in the March for Life, 2012.
The trip began Monday morning at 12:00 AM. From here, students were driven through the night and arrived at Washington, D.C. around 6 AM. Their first destination was the Verizon Center in downtown D.C., which provided them with the opportunity to listen to inspiring Christian music, go to Confession, and pray the Rosary. This all culminated in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in which the main celebrant was Donald Cardinal Wuerl. The Archbishop of Washington was joined by a dozen or so bishops, many priests, and an estimated crowd of 17,000 youth and other pro-lifers. An inspirational homily was delivered by Monsignor Charles Pope, who challenged the congregation to make "the loudest noise this building has ever heard!" This part of the trip, in the opinion of many students, was one of, if not the biggest, highlight.
Household life mass
Franciscan University students joined together for the first Household Life Mass of the semester on Friday, January 20. Both household members and supporting students filled the Finnegan Fieldhouse to celebrate the current households, as well as the four new households being inaugurated into the campus community.
"The purpose of Household Life Mass is to come together in the larger community of Household Life, to engage in the supreme act of prayer that we as Catholics can participate in," said the Rev. Gregory Plow, T.O.R. and coordinator of Household Life.
Frugal student
BY: JESSIE WEISS
College expenses can appear like a dark and gloomy hole, pulling one deeper and deeper into debt. These days, a college education is far from cheap, and many students are exploring ways to cut costs. While tuition is a price that cannot be avoided, there are numerous other options to save money and still enjoy all the perks of a college experience.
Becoming a frugal college student is an important part of learning to survive in today's economy. One of the most common ways to save is by purchasing textbooks online, rather than from the school's bookstore. Websites like Half.com and Amazon sell used textbooks at a much lower cost than a university. An even better option might be to ask your friends about the classes they have already taken; they may be willing to lend or sell their books to you for the semester.
